It all started with a piece of garbage...

Matthew Emerzian, a successful music industry executive in Los Angeles, was walking back to his office with a co-worker one afternoon in 2004 when he stopped to pick up a plastic fountain drink cover from the sidewalk and put it in a nearby garbage bin.

“My co-worker quickly asked me what I was doing,” Emerzian recalled. “I explained what I thought to be the obvious, but apparently I was wrong.” To the co-worker, litter simple belonged to the litterer, not to the population as a whole.

“I explained to him that litter and pollution are everyone's problem not just the person who couldn't find the garbage can for their cup lid. He profoundly responded with 'Dude, you're weird.'”

Emerzian, now 38, walked back to his office both angry and sad.

“I couldn't believe that someone could remove themselves so far from the greater good of our world.”

Matt began to think, 'what if everyone in the country picked up one piece of litter on the same day.' Or 10 pieces! The math was easy, yet so powerful. He then began to think of a few other easy things that 300 million Americans could do to make a difference.

From this, a great idea was born. He called his friend, Kelly Bozza, and told her that he wanted to write a book about how all of us can make a difference with our lives. Within a week, they had over 100 items on their list and were ready to start writing.

Their book, titled Every Monday Matters...52 Ways to Make a Difference, has sold 120,000 copies. It is both powerful and thought-provoking. The ideas are simple - small acts that collectively add up to an enormous impact for the greater good. It's 144 pages with lots of illustrations - chocked full of big ideas.

Dr. Martin Luther King said, “Everyone has the power of greatness; not for fame, but greatness. Because greatness is determined by service.”

The Secret Language of Colors

Colors Training - what does it mean and why should you learn all about color personalities?

· Blues

BLUES just want to have fun and they are about 15% of the population in this world. Blue people see pretty quickly what they don’t need or want in the details in the business. So what does this mean to be a “blue” person?

According to the book “Success in 10 Steps: “They’re same as the Yellows as far as the comp plan. In the same comp plan, they can go deep, to create massive spillover and a lot of stuff happening quickly for them. That gets them excited and they’ll stay in business.”

A blue person gets excited and they talk in that manner. If you know they like to go in sports they will tell you about the fun. They will talk about anything that is fun for them with their family and vacations and so fun with everything.

· Green

GREENS are about 35% people in the population this world. They think they are the smartest people in this world and you will know they are green right away. How? They want all the details.

From the book, “Success in 10 Steps” it talks about the fact you are not going to sell them. In fact, don’t even try it. They have to sell themselves. If they know the web site to go to; then they will go and find out everything. They will keep on trying to find out every little deal about everything in the business. After they have read everything on a business, proof of what people have to say.

Be careful how you talk to someone who is “green”. Slow you speaking, be honest and upfront and give them the information they need and answer their question honestly as you can. Give them more information as needed such as websites or other information where they find it. Let “Greens” let you know after they check out everything. If they feel you are pushy they will be gone. They have their own plan and pace.

Once they have sold themselves on all the information they will decide it is the perfect business for them.

· REDS

Reds are about 15% of the population in this world. They are money focused people so don’t even think about talking to them about family or the trip you just had; they don’t care.

If they know you are married or have kids or were on a trip that is fine but do not talk about all the details of it. They want to talk about money.

According to “Success in 10 Steps”, “Reds do well in a stair step breakaway compensation plan, because they think network marketing is a sales business. For them, it is sell, sell, sell. In a stair step plan, they can put 5 people in the front line. If only one produces, they never go back and put somebody underneath them. They’re just looking for producers, somebody who will build, build, build.”

Reds are the people who are top business CEO’s, the kind of people who get a job done and so every red person is looking for another red person. They get a job done.

What is wrong with all this? Red people are not too coachable and they are a bit arrogant and have big egos. They order people around and it works well in corporate businesses but not in networking marketing.

Reds are people who know a lot of powerful people so if you enroll a red they will put you in contact the people. So, if you decide to enroll a red just remember they are not coachable and you cannot mentor them or tell them what to do. They will decide for themselves and you have no choice in it.

· Yellows

I have a "Yellow" personality. What does that mean? We all have a certain kind of personality and in research a color has been assigned. The colors are yellow, green, blue and red.

Being a “yellow” I find using my weaknesses is just a natural part of my life, at least it has been up to this point. It has been explained to me in MentoringForFree Training that knowing what color my personality is, and knowing what color personalities other people are will help me in my one-on-one interaction with people and better able short circuit the traits that hinder me from achieving the goals I have set for myself.Over the centuries many scientists and philosophers have studied the personality traits of people. It has been determined, there are 4 basic personalities. The particular names each group was referred to depended on the source of the study. Of course the official scientific names are very forgettable and hard to pronounce. Luckily for us, my mentor, Michael Dlouhy, in his book “Success in 10 Steps”, has used the names as Yellow, Green, Blue and Red. This does make it a lot easier to remember and talk about.Yellows don’t want to be sold. They don’t like pushy people, aggressive salespeople. That is me. Don’t tell me that you are earning $10,000 a month; that will turn me off. Talk about my family, my kids, where I went on vacation.

Yellows cannot work in stair step breakaway-type compensation plans. They have to be in a plan where you put people under people under people.
However, Yellows have built some of the largest organizations in Network Marketing …
When we have the belief we can do it.
